Greed conquered Wall Street and a broker became a necessary evil standing between you and your financial goals. Brokerage firms cut costs and raised rates. You were faced with higher fees and less service. And your broker no longer knew who you were. You became a faceless account number and you found yourself dealing with an institution instead of a person. 

The technology boom seemed to offer some relief in that you became able to execute your trades from your home computer. You traded a broker’s expertise for more control, cutting down on astronomical fees and the humiliation of disinterested support. Still, not a good solution, as you now spend more time doing the brokers job, trying to keep track of changing trends and, hopefully, making informed decisions in a timely fashion.
