President & CEO
With over ten years of investment experience, Michael brings hard work and dedicated service to all of Eplboim Poutre & Co.'s clients.
Michael grew up in northern Vermont in a small town near Canada. A ninth generation Vermonter of French Canadian and Irish descent, Michael learned to play hockey and speak French at the same time he was learning to walk and speak English.
A consummate traveler, in 1989 he left his native state to attend Whittier College. His presence pervaded the
Southern Californian campus as Captain of the hockey team, Student Advocate on the Board of Governors
and winner of the Richard Nixon Scholarship.
Following graduation as a Whittier
Scholar, Michael moved back to Vermont to work alongside his father at Prudential Life Insurance. Michael Poutre, Sr. insisted that his son adhere to a strict work regimen and maintain strong ties with all of his clients. The energetic pair met daily with their investors to ensure everyone's needs were taken care of.
Leaving his father's tutelage, Michael returned to California to join Great Western Bank as a Financial Management Advisor and began coaching kids ice hockey at a nearby rink. Soon, the Smith Barney office in Beverly Hills recruited the promising young professional and Michael embarked on a more focused career path. Always an athlete, Michael valued the advice from those around him as he valued the teachings of his father, coaches and teammates. It soon attracted him to a colleague and avid soccer player, Shlomo Eplboim.
Working together at Paine Webber, Beverly
Hills, Michael and Shlomo began discussions about a new type of investment firm. Both desired a more intimate environment where demands would not be placed on the investment advisors for sales or commissions.
Determined to give the "system" another chance Michael decided to make the move over to a regional
brokerage firm, Van Kasper, in order to work in a smaller atmosphere.
In August 2000, Michael decided to pursue his dream with Shlomo. Though the two had parted professional company for a period, their ideas quickly rekindled and began to take form into a more solid plan.
In October 2001, Michael ’s dreams
were born in their new company—a place to continue the
rich traditions of his father and grow a new generation
of wealth managers—a company with the focus on the client,
not just on the bottom line.
Mike is married to the
love of his life, Shauna, and they had their first child
in July 2006 - a son.
Mike is an avid skier,
hockey player, mountain climber, scuba diver, and volunteers
as a youth ice hockey coach.
